Water Management
All of Parramatta's catchments drain to the Parramatta River, a highly significant tidal estuary in Sydney. To protect this resource, impacts on receiving water quality from further development of the catchments needs to be minimised. Stormwater drainage networks and the floodway capacity of waterways need to be managed whilst preserving/enhancing the ecological integrity of the waterway systems.

Protection of Groundwater
Objectives
- O.1To protect groundwater quality, flows and drainage patterns during demolition, construction and ongoing operation phases of a development.
Design Principles
- P.1Operating practices and technology shall be employed to prevent contamination of groundwater.
- P.2Protection measures for groundwater are to be proportional to the risk the development poses. Where the potential risk to groundwater is high, a separate Groundwater Impact Report will be required.
